As bully dog fans we have to be constantly vigilant in keeping an eye out for animal abuse, cruelty and neglect. It’s our responsibility to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. If you find a neglected or abused bully (or any other animal), below are the steps to take. If you feel authorities are not taking proper action, notify us so we can loudly broadcast the abuse on Rock-A-Bully and our social media channels.
If the bully is in immediate danger:
- Contact 911 right away – Provide as much detail as possible about the abuser (including their address/contact information, if possible), victimized bully and the abuse.
- Take photos if you are able without endangering yourself or entering private property. Stay nearby if possible until authorities arrive.
- Next, we also recommend contacting:
- The Humane Society of the United States: 202-452-1100 or 866-720-2676 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.
- If the issue specifically relates to dog fighting, call this tip line instead: 877-TIP-HSUS (877-847-4787)
- If the issue specifically relates to a puppy mill, call this tip line instead: 877-MILL-TIP (877-645-5847).
If the situation is not life threatening:
- Be sure to record the date, times, location and types of abuse/neglect you have witnessed
- Again, take photos if you are able without endangering yourself or entering private property
- Contact your local law enforcement and/or sheriff’s office
